Hertha BSC has appointed former Dortmund assistant coach, Jutta Lindner, as the new head coach following their relegation from the Bundesliga this season.
Lindner, who had been the assistant to former German international, Thomas Tuchel, will take over at Hertha's newly renamed "Hertha BSC" stadium in Berlin.
The appointment comes just days after Hertha were knocked out of the Europa League by Real Madrid in the first round.
Lindner has spent her career coaching at various clubs including Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig, before becoming assistant to Tuchel at Dortmund.
She was praised for her work with the club and is known for her ability to motivate players and help them develop as individuals.
In her role as assistant to Tuchel, she oversaw several key signings such as midfielder Christian Pulisic and winger Nemanja Matic, who made his debut for the Bundesliga side last season.
Lindner also played a crucial role in helping Dortmund avoid relegation during the 2019-20 campaign.
"The club is very happy that Jutta Lindner has joined us," said Hertha BSC chairman Stefan Kupfermann. "We have always valued her experience and expertise in coaching."
The move comes at a time when Hertha are looking to improve their squad ahead of the upcoming season, which starts on January 18th.
Hertha BSC will be hoping that Lindner can help them stay competitive and reach the Champions League next season.
