The Italian capital is looking to bolster its defense with a new signing after the departure of their current goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Marseille have confirmed that they have signed Serie A stalwart Gianluigi Donnarumma from Napoli, bringing him back to the French club following his impressive performances during his time at the San Siro.

Donnarumma has been one of the standout performers in Serie A this season, scoring six goals and assisting four others in all competitions. He has also played a key role in Marseille's recent run of form, helping them secure a Champions League spot and reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Donnarumma's return to the French capital comes as a big boost to Marseille's defensive setup, which struggled last season under coach Frank Rijkaard. The club has struggled to keep clean sheets throughout the campaign, failing to score more than two goals per match.

Donnarumma will join fellow Napoli defender Daniele De Rossi on a short-term deal until the end of the season, while the club also plans to make a permanent move for another player before the summer transfer window closes.

Donnarumma's arrival marks a significant update to Marseille's squad, adding depth and experience to the defence. However, it remains to be seen how well he fits into the team's system and if he can replicate the success that he had at Napoli.

In any case, Donnarumma's arrival is a positive development for Marseille, who have struggled to find a consistent striker to replace Diego Costa. With Donnarumma joining, the club should be able to add some much-needed depth to their attack and improve their chances of winning titles next season.
