Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured their fourth straight victory in the French top flight on Sunday as they beat Marseille 2-1 at the Parc des Princes.
The match was a closely contested affair with both teams creating numerous opportunities to find the back of the net. However, it was PSG who emerged victorious thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.
Messi opened the scoring in the 4th minute after beating his marker before slotting home into the bottom corner. Mbappe doubled PSG's lead just four minutes later following a brilliant individual move which saw him pick out Messi in the box for the easy finish.
Marseille, however, did not give up easily and were able to get a consolation goal through Florian Thauvin in the 77th minute. The equaliser ensured that there would be no repeat of the 2-2 draw between these two sides earlier this season.
Despite the loss, Marseille will take heart from their performance against one of Europe's elite sides and will look to bounce back in the coming fixtures.
